Student Workshop
The IPTA 2025 Student week will be held in the beautiful city of Pasadena, CA, USA and hosted in partnership with Caltech's Department of Astronomy. Taking in feedback from previous meetings, the student week will incorporate a wide range of teaching and training, addressing pulsar and pulsar timing array research as well as transferable skills. Despite an exciting academic schedule, the student week organizing committee will strive to provide ample time for participants to explore the city.The typical weather in Pasadena in June is warm and partially cloudy, with temperatures ranging from 14.3 to 28.7°C (57 to 83°F) and low humidity.

Science Conference
The 2025 IPTA Science Meeting will be open to the astrophysics, cosmology and fundamental physics communities at large. Hosted on the expansive California Institute of Technology (AKA: Caltech) campus, the meeting will consist of four days of open sessions plus a half-day ‘closed session’ on Wednesday dedicated to IPTA internal matters. During this day, non-IPTA participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Pasadena, immersed in the iconic historical landmarks that dot the valley.Talks have been scheduled with a priority given towards students and early-career scientists.

Where to Go?
Student Workshop
The Student Workshop will be hosted by the Cahill Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics in the Hameetman Auditorium. Additional breakout rooms will be available in Cahill 204, 211, 273, and 370. Please coordinate with our LOC members on the day in question if you'd like to use one of these rooms.
Science Week
During the primary science conference, we will be hosted within the historic Beckman Institute's Auditorium. You can easily spot this building by looking for the iconic Gene Pool off of S. Michigan Avenue.Take note: This is not the much larger Beckman Auditorium, which is at the focal point of the Caltech campus.
Planetarium Screening
As a special offering to our conference attendees, we will be screening the IPTA-focused planetarium film, Cosmic Clocks, at the Glendale Community College Planetarium. There will be a total of two showings: at 7:00 PM and at 8:00 PM local time. This film is being produced by the West Virginia University Planetarium and Observatory with funding provided by an extension to NSF AccelNet Award No. 2114721. The film's director, Dr. Jason Ybarra, will lead both shows.
Conference Banquet Dinner
Our conference will feature the traditional banquet hosted at Caltech's private club, ==The Atheneaum. The club is located at 551 South Hill Ave, Pasadena, CA 91106. Dinner service will begin at 6:00 PM local time on the West Patio.
Traveling to Pasadena
Conference Airport: LAX
Conference members are encouraged to fly into the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The airport services a large number of airlines, many of which offer regular direct flights. LAX is undergoing significant construction and improvements which are not scheduled to be completed until well after the meeting. As it is one of the largest and busiest airports in the United States, please plan accordingly and familiarize yourself with the airport's terminal map.
Public Transportation from LAX
Attendees can utilize the LAX FlyAway bus service in conjunction with the Metro A Line light-rail system to reach Pasadena with relative ease. Tickets can be purchased in advance for the FlyAway bus, which connects you to Union Station for $12.75 USD per fare. These buses can be tracked in real time here. From Union Station, board the Metro A Line, located on Tracks 1 and 2, traveling in the direction of Azusa. The fare costs $1.75 USD. The closest stops to our conference's hotels are Del Mar and Memorial Park Stations.In addition, the LAX/Metro Transit Center recently opened to the public. Folks wishing to travel fully on the metro lines can instead follow the route described below:
From LAX, take a shuttle to the LAX/Metro Transit Center. You can use this helpful guide to navigate from your Arrival Terminal to the free shuttle.
Once at the LAX/Metro Transit Center, take the Metro C Line to the Willowbrooks/Rosa Parks Station (Follow Signs for the C Line to Norwalk).
Transfer to the Metro A Line to Del Mar or Memorial Park Stations (Follow signs for APU/Citrus College or Azuza).

Founded in 1886 as a regional resort town, the City of Pasadena offers a wide variety of activities for all visitors. Nestled between the San Gabriel Mountains and San Rafael Hills, Pasadena has numerous natural wonders to take in. The Angeles National Forest offers over 697 miles of nature trails across 325 square kilometers of preserved wilderness.For those more interested in taking in American melting pot of culture that is Los Angeles, you can take the Metro Tram from Del Mar Station directly into the heart of L.A. within 27 minutes. The iconic Griffith Observatory and its view of the Hollywood Sign can be reached with a similar travel time via taxi.
